District heating

Energy consumption in Germany is dominated by the costs for heat generation in private households, which amounts to approx. 50%. In addition to the resulting cost burden for households, the ecological effects of the high amount of energy being used for heat generation must be evaluated. From this perspective, the use of district heating is an interesting alternative. Brunsbüttel has been using industrial waste heat for the last ten years to supply heat to public buildings, which was originally an initiative launched by egeb:Wirtschaftsförderung. This ecologically and economically successful project is currently expanding together with the Stadtwerke Brunsbüttel. Stadtwerke and egeb: Wirtschaftsförderung will take over all district heating systems in Brunsbüttel in the future and provide technical support accordingly.
